Drew Central Students Learn About 9-11
September 14th, 2012 by Drew Central SchoolsMrs. Lou Arnold’s second grade class from Drew Central Elementary learned about an important event of history that happened before they were born. They also realized how much this event has affected their lives even today. This event was the 9-11 terrorist attack on America.
Through videos of live coverage 11 years ago, the students were able to see what America saw then. Much like 11 years ago, the students were quiet and upset that this happen in our own country. Students also learned about the heroes of Flight 93 that possibly saved an attack on the nation’s capital.
Students were in awe and learned why we have soldiers today in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these soldiers are their close relatives. As a tribute to 9-11 and all that lost their lives, they created pictures that were placed on a collage. This picture shows the collage that depicts scenes from the crash into the towers and thank you notes to those aboard the Flight 93.
