Double Fatality Wreck in Drew County, Last Night
January 7th, 2022 by Joe BurgessAt 7:20, Thursday night, Drew County Sheriffs deputies received a call of a overturned vehicle, partially submerged,
near 4 Mile Creek Road, in the area of the Bayou Bartholomew Bridge, near Collins and Dermott.
Deputies and ambulance crews immediately responded to the scene.
The Arkansas State Police worked the double fatality accident, where Drew Anthony Thomas, age 22 of Monticello, and Talia Latrice Pirtle, age 21 of Memphis, lost their lives.
Report show that the 2000 Toyota Camry, that Thomas was driving, was traveling southbound on Highway 35, when it left the right side of the roadway and entered a steep embankment. There it overturned onto its top, landing in a deep ditch area full of water.
Both victims were declared deceased at the scene.
