Desha / Drew Cattlemen’s October 2021 Meeting Notes
November 2nd, 2021 by Club OfficerThe Desha/Drew Cattlemen’s Association met for the regular monthly meeting October 21, 2021, at 7PM in the Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Building on the UAM campus.
Vice President Nita Carpenter welcomed the members and guests and asked Glynn Gibson to ask the blessing for the food. The group enjoyed the delicious meal of meatloaf and sides, as well as, banana pudding and cobblers all sponsored by Town and Country Feed and prepared by Young’s BBQ. The association appreciates the support of both of these businesses.
VP Nita Carpenter introduced our two speakers Robert Holmes and Mark Greer, both representatives of Quality Liquid Feed. This liquid supplement is formulated to help the cattle graze what may be lower quality forages or hay and still make gains and receive protein and minerals. Molasses in the feed attracts the cow to the feed and provides energy. Dale McKiever and Nita at Town and Country Feed can help you decide which product has the right ingredients to match your needs and also sell the lick tanks which make feeding easier. Those present all enjoyed the informal discussion and each received a QLF cap.
Also on hand was Scott Hayes, who has just recently become our Drew County Extension agent. Feel free to contact him if you have any questions. Our next meeting will be our Thanksgiving meeting November 18th.
