Desha County Jury Gives 55 Year Sentence for Firearms & Battery Charges
August 12th, 2013 by Joe BurgessLast Wednesday, a Desha County jury convicted Roy Lee Russell, of Dumas, for being a felon in possession in possession of a firearm and 2nd degree battery.
Russell was sentenced to 40 years and 15 years to run consecutively, which is the maximum sentence possible for those offenses.
Russell was found not guilty on 3 counts of kidnapping, 2 counts of rape, and one count of 2nd degree battery.
The trial began on Wednesday and concluded about 2pm Thursday.
