Defense Cross-examines Trooper – 2:15 Update
November 13th, 2013 by iPhoneAt 1:10 pm, the defense began cross-examining the trooper, starting with skid marks and the presence of the train.
“Once a tire is locked up, it makes a solid black mark. When the brakes are released, the tire leaves a ‘stima’ marking the place where the tire started rolling again.”
Childs’ statement, which was given to another trooper at Drew Memorial, was read by the second trooper.
An occupant of a vehicle in the crash testified next, about the screeching sounds and smoke and noise.
After the impact , my 2 year old daughter was screaming, saying that her neck hurt. The man sent his daughter across the road with a friend, and began checking for other victims.
They found Childs’ truck still running, and then found the Davis mini-van.
They later saw Childs laying on the road, away from the wreck site.
When asked, the witness stated the he didn’t hear a horn, only screeching tires and two impact sounds.
