Defendant Testified about Night of Shooting
June 29th, 2016 by iPhoneCourt began, Wednesday, with Myron Briggs, the alleged murder defendant, taking the stand, in his own defense.
When asked by his attorney, Briggs told the court that he is a felon, has been to prison, and in currently in ADC, for his parole being revoked, due to the current charges.
Briggs was shot twice, that night; once in the leg, which has left him in a wheelchair.
He began describing the events of that night, by telling that Davis knocked on his door, after he and his wife went to bed. He opened the door to let Davis in, and Thompson came in “loud” with him. Â Briggs said Davis didn’t come inside, and was outside when the shooting took place.
Thompson. He then said that he sat on the couch, Thompson made a short comment and began firing.
Briggs next said that he went toward the kitchen for cover, but was shot in the lag and neck.
After being shot, Briggs returned fire.
During a pause in the gunfire, Briggs sat on the couch, and told his wife to give him another clip of bullets and his cell phone.
“Why did you shoot Eric?” -Attorney
“To keep him from shooting at me.”- Briggs
