Deadline to File for Mayor’s Race, City Council & Clerk is Monday at Noon

With 2 1/2 days left to file as a non-partisan candidate for any city office, including mayor, alderman, city attorney and clerk, most candidates seem to be waiting til the last day to file.
At this point, only 3 alderman candidates have filed with the County Clerk.
Joe Meeks has filed for reelection in Ward 3. Claudia Hartness has filed to retain her seat for Ward 2. Mike Wigley has filed to seek election to Paige Chase’s seat in Ward 4.
Paige Chase has announced her intention to seek the Mayor’s position. Former mayor Joe Rogers has been collecting petition signatures for the mayor’s seat.
Jonathan Schell, Chief Nursing Officer at Drew Memorial Hospital, has announced his intentions to seek the Ward 4 position that is being vacated by Beverly Hudson’s decision not to seek re-election.
The deadline to file is next Monday at noon.
