DCSO Drug Arrest
October 9th, 2015 by iPhoneAccording to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, during the early morning hours, Saturday Deputy Brandon Wright conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on 425 North.
When Deputy Wright approached the vehicle, he could smell the strong odor of marijuana from within the vehicle.
Deputy Wright advised Manuel Mondragon (22) of Grady, the reason for the stop and proceeded to ask for his drivers license and proof of insurance.
Deputy Wright returned to his vehicle to verify the documents and returned to Mondragon's vehicle and asked him when the last time Marijuana was present inside the vehicle. Mondragon stated that the last time was a month or two ago and advised Deputy Wright that he could look.
Deputy Wright began to search the vehicle and during the search a small clear plastic baggie containing a white powder like substance believed to be cocaine was located in an open dash board compartment.
At this point Deputy Wright secured Mondragon due to the substance found and continued to search the vehicle. During the further search multiple baggies containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was located wrapped up in a roll of shop towels. Also present in the vehicle was a set of digital scales, marijuana drug test kits, approximately 25 marijuana (roach) cigarettes, a marijuana grinder, $322.24 and a Marlin .17 caliber rifle.
After the search Mondragon was transported to the Drew County Detention facility where he was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Possession of Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Marijuana), Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearm. The baggies of marijuana located in the vehicle weighed approximately 34 grams.
