Dairy Queen Chill’n’Grill Construction Begins
July 26th, 2017 by iPhoneDairy Queen announced in December that they will be opening a new Grill & Chill, on Highway 425 North, near Sonic & Valero.
Dairy Queen’s building permit information was presented to the City Council at their March meeting.
There was a hold up with construction due to a high pressure, underground gas line, that runs from Centerpoint’s Wilmar transmission line to Monticello. That line ends just east of the Dairy Queen property, where it splits into service lines.
Regulations do not allow permanent structures to be built on top of the lines, but sources tell MLive that adjustments have been made to the plot design, that has allowed dirt work and early construction to begin.
The original announcement estimated construction to take around three months, so weather permitting, it should be in operation by the end of the year.
