County Employees Finally Get Raises
December 16th, 2014 by iPhoneAfter years of struggling with low county revenues, the Drew County Quorum Court approved raises, Monday night for all county employees.
Certified sheriff’s deputies will a receive a larger raise, bringing them closer to “a level playing field” with other law-enforcement agencies in the area.
Instead of the yearly “Christmas bonus/stipend,” which is simply a one time payment, quorum court approved an ongoing 6% across-the-board raise, for all county employees.
The sheriffs department, which has been battling the issue of certified deputies leaving the department to take higher-paying jobs with other agencies, was approved to receive a 10% raise for all certified personnel, including CID, chief deputy, and the sheriff.
The court voted to increase the county judges salary by 10%, as well, due to the fact that the county judge and county sheriff traditionally earn equal pay.
