Conrad Tower Repairs and Maintenance Still Underway
November 15th, 2023 by Joe BurgessThe City of Monticello wants to remind residents that the Conrad Street Water Tower repairs and improvements are still underway and on schedule.
Residents near the tower may see water misting from the tower where it is being pressure washed and crews scaling the exterior of the structure. Access to Conrad Street is limited during the project.
The interior and exterior of the tower are being prepped, cleaned and repainted and a modification to the overflow system on the tank is being installed to get the tower in compliance with Department of Health regulations.
Construction and repairs are expected to continue in to December.
The tower will display UAM related graphics in an effort to promote the University and Monticello.
The water tower project is being funded from the One Cent Sales Tax passed by city residents.
According to Monticello Mayor Jason Akers “City water, sewer and related infrastructure repairs continue to be the number one priority for our town. It’s messy and time consuming but it’s absolutely necessary when it comes to the safety of our community”.
