Comments & “Freedom of Speech”
October 13th, 2016 by iPhoneDue to the ongoing battle and responsibilities of moderating comments, MLive is posting our updated policy, which limits comments pertaining to many political and social issue news articles
The reasons for this change includes the “personal aspects” of many “public stories,” and the increasing number of slanderous comments, identified only by “screen names.”
Most of our major stories also have their headlines posted on Facebook, which does provide readers the opportunity to post their thoughts, although their identity will not be hidden.
“Freedom of Speech” gives us the right to say what we think. It does not, give people the right to stand on someone else’s porch and anonymously yell insults at others in the community.

The entire point of being anonymous on the internet is to be able to voice your opinion freely without repercussions. You should keep this a transparent place where people can voice opinions and not fear scrutiny in the tiny realm of monticello.
Thank you Mr Joe
.. put your porch right out in the open public and expect no one to stand on it…… I’d suggest removing said porch from public view if you want no one standing on it. And I’m sure this does not pertain to the porch owners though. And this is all done to shield and protect democrats liars.
Keep up the good work. You are doing your best to keep Monticello honest.
