Collins Voting Site Moving To Enon Baptist Church, due to ADA Requirements
April 26th, 2018 by iPhoneAt a recent meeting of the Drew County election commission, it was decided to move the Collins voting precinct from Collins Baptist Church to Enon Baptist Church, due to a complaint lodged by the ADA DRA over disability access, at Collins Baptist.
A spokesperson for disability rights of Arkansas contacted the county clerk, with a list of multiple voting sites that had questions. All precincts that were questionable were investigated and cleared by the election commission except for the Collins precinct.
That site has a gravel parking lot with a concrete sidewalk, but does not include a concrete handicapped parking spot, as their guidelines require. The Enon site, located on Highway 35 E., has a covered concrete entrance, which can be used for handicapped parking. This is why the change was made.
Election day is May 22. Early voting begins May 7 at the courthouse.
