City to Hire Parks Director – Video
April 19th, 2016 by Joe BurgessAt Thursday’s parks comittee meeting, Mayor Zack Tucker discussed the possibility of hiring a full-time city parks director.
That person would work at city hall,
1. Manage the park dept’s business,
2. Reserve the pavillions, pool & splash pad,
3. Recruit activies & tournaments, for the parks,
4. Take the place of the current position, of pool manager,
5. Work a Tuesday-Saturday schedule,
6. Open the Sadie Johnson center for rental events,
7. Work with sports leagues and schedules.
8. Supervise activities, events, and users of the parks.
9. Other duties, to be included in a job decription, which will be compiled, soon.
Tucker told the committee that the position had been included in the city council’s approed budget, but the he had promised to discuss the matter with the commitee, to see if they felt the position was needed. The 6 members present unanimously approved the position.
The position will pay $36,060.75/year, and will eliminate the approximate $14,000 that was being paid to the pool manager.

recheck your notes, I do not think the pool manager was making $14,000 for 2 1/2 months of work.
Reply – That estimated salary was quoted in the meeting, which is in the video.
