City Taking Over Sr. Citizens Center

Mayor David Anderson has confirmed that the City of Monticello will be taking over the official operations of the Monticello Sr. Citizens Center, effective July 3.
No changes are expected in staffing or in operation.
The changes taking place due to one of the center’s former funding sources, reportedly provided through the Southeast Arkansas Educational Co-operative, is coming to an end.
The city, county, as well as other involved sources continue to fund the agency which serves well over 100 older local residents.
Although the actual expense to the city may not be known at this point, the actual required funding should be known in the next couple of months.
