July 9th, 2024 by Joe BurgessAccording to Mayor Jason Akers, the City of Monticello received a $224,997 reimbursement for expenses this week for a recently completed infrastructure project.
Bids were opened for the Godfrey Ditch project on March 14, 2024, and the project began in April. It was completed in early June, with drainage work being performed on Jackson, Pauline, Conley, Shelton and ending at Gaines Street.
Upon the projects completion, the City requested a reimbursement from the State of Arkansas for expenses incurred in the project. The City made the request on June 14 and received the reimbursement of $224,997 via direct deposit last week.
According to Mayor Jason Akers, “As we continue to focus on Monticello’s infrastructure repair, we intent to do so in the most cost effective ways possible. Where we can receive grants, we will. Where we can recoup some of our tax dollars, we aggressively pursue those avenues as evidence of the city receiving this reimbursement”
