City ISO Rating Improves
July 4th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAccording to Mayor Allen Maxwell, he received a letter, Monday, confirming the city’s effort to acheive a better ISO rating has been a success.
The city of Monticello now has a ISO rating of 4, moving up from it’s former grade of 5. What this should mean to residents is lower insurance rates.
Mayor Maxwell told MLive that the improved rating is due in part to equipment, training, regular building inspections, and improved hydrant maintenance,

Glad someone pointed out the hard work of our firemen. Contrary to popular belief, these guys work hard and are dedecated to Monticello. They are not just a bunch of guys that drive around in firetrucks and make a bunch of noise. Iam proud to know all of them and call the my friends. GOOD WORK!!!!!
What type of insurance premium reduction should residents expect??
This last week I observed an off duty fire captain, in his personal vehicle, lights and siren blaring, go north on Hwy 425. A few moments later his firetruck passed by going north, lights and siren blaring. Off duty and in his personal vehicle he was still concerned for the citizens of Monticello. We have a great fire department! Keep up the wonderful work! You are worth more than we can afford to pay you!
