KARK Video – City Councilman Arrested After Arguing with Officers
May 29th, 2014 by iPhone
A Monticello city council member was arrested, around 9 PM Sunday night, after he argued with law-enforcement officers, after being called by a friend/constituent to speak on his behalf.
Cedric Leonard, age 45, an elected city council member, was reported arrested by Drew County Sheriffs Deputies, following an incident involving an abandoned Polaris Ranger. (it should been seen turning off of Calhoun Street onto Cooper Street, and then onto Lincoln Court, before being abandoned by two occupants).
The aggravated owner reportedly called for Leonard to speak on his behalf; but according to sources, the council member “aggressively” approach the officers while cursing (and smelling of alcohol).
Leonard was arrested on the charges of public intoxication and interfering with governmental operations, and bonded out early Monday morning.
No mention of the event was made at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, which Leonard attended.

hope he lost his position.
This is not the whole story…when it comes to the county law enforcement you can bet your boots that this altercation was instigated and escalated by the officer. We will not read about or hear about what really happened.
Looks like we have read everything about what happened that night. It doesn’t matter how mad the Police makes you it doesn’t give a person the right to threat another person with a gun. He should know better espicially since he is an elected offical.
concerned public, the laws had to do, what they had to do, they never know what is going to happen ,I agree lacey resident!!
You have read one side of the story that is full of inaccuracies. This town and the people in it need to realize that just because the police and MonticelloLive says it doesn’t make it so! Quit being sheep and jumping on the band wagon every time something happens in this town. Find out all the sides and know who has biases before you form an opinion.
