City Council Member Found Guilty of “Interfering with Governmental Operations”

A Monticello city council member was found guilty of “interfering with governmental operations ” in Drew County District Court, Thursday, following his May arrest by Drew County Sheriff’s deputies.
Cedric Leonard, represented himself in Thursday’s case before Judge Ross.
Leonard’s arrest took place after a DCSO Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a side-by-side 4-wheeler he had seen driving on Lincoln Court.
When the officer stopped at the residence where the ATV was located, and was trying to determine who was riding the vehicle, Leonard then then became a part of the scene and reportedly threatened officers by saying, “I’ve got a gun for you… ,” among other statements.
Leonard was fined $315, and has one month to appeal his case to the Drew County Circuit Court.
He was found not guilty of public intoxication, because there was no documentation of his alcohol level at the time of his arrest on that Sunday night, May 25.
