City Clerk Resigns from Elected Position
June 4th, 2019 by iPhoneMonticello City Clerk Andrea Chambers has resigned from the elected “Clerk’s” position. The resignation was believed effective last Tuesday, when it was delivered to Mayor Paige Chase.
No reasons for the resignation were cited in the letter.
Current plans are for Ms. Chambers to continue in her employed city position as water office director.
At this time the duties of city clerk will be handled by the mayor and city attorney.
The City Council, at their next meeting, is expected to accept the resignation, and to declare a vacancy.
The council will likely appoint an acting city clerk, until the next general elections are held (likely November 2020), pending the city attorney’s legal advice on how to appropriately deal with this situation.
