Circuit Judge Suspended for Month
September 10th, 2012 by Joe BurgessA press release from the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission has confirmed that 10th Judicial District Judge Sam Pope will receive a 30 day unpaid suspension following an April 5 confrontation at the Crossett Walmart with his estranged wife’s boyfriend, where a physical confrontation developed between the two men. Both men were handcuffed and transported to the Crossett Police Department, but no charges were filed by either party.
Judge Pope has served as Circuit Judge for 18 years.
He has issued a letter of apology to the JDDC, saying that the “emotions and physical effect’ of the break up of a 33 year marriage led to the events that occurred that day. The letter states that he knows that his “conduct was not appropriate or acceptable” and “did not rise to the level I expect of myself or others in similar situations.”
The suspension should begin around October 1, in order for court scheduling to be re-arranged.

Mr.Pope you are human.
It is honorable for Sam Pope to do what 1John 1: 9 states that all christians must de and that confess and through confession He the Almighty God is justifiable in forgiving our sin or infraction. Judge Pope has been and tho this date from my point of view is a Christian Gentlemen. Domestic issues betwix husbands and wives are primarily confined to behind close doors and this case it occured outside the walls, but the key thing is confession and seeking professional assistance for remedy. The scripture allows for all of us if we can no longer reason together and live in accordance of the vow taken in matrimony in all of its aspects then we have the right to seek devorce and in this case the Judge being the Stellar Jurist Prudence entity he is is taking the doctrinal aprroach of the Almighty God in resloving this issue, so let us pray for him and that blessing/favor from God through Jesus Christ be with and upon him. The non beliver and haters will disagree but this is the way of the Almighty God.
Very Well said Bishop Wherry
Judge Pope is a wonderful man just because he is a Circuit Judge that doesn’t mean he isn’t human. He acted as many others would. He has admitted his wrong, accepting his punishment and is moving forward. Best wishes to Judge Pope.
Well don’t know him personally & I know its easier said than done, but don’t allow your wife her boyfriend or anyone else ruin your life cong career. Let go & let GOD take care of it.
Not to start a bru-ha-ha Bishop, but anyone that declares someone a hater or non believer because they don’t agree with you before their opinion is given is in fact lame, and is not of God. Judge Pope is set to preside over a trial involving a woman that has been accused of killing her husband in a domestic violence case. Where is the outrage?
I am outraged! Only in this good ole boy town will he just get a pat on his head and a nod! Are you kidding me, one month?
Human is correct, and no matter what it is you do in life, there will be a time you have confrontations. How he handled it, Judge or not, is like probably any person in that same instant would have. Emotions take over and things happen! Right, wrong, or indifferent…it is what it is….HUMAN Behavior! At least now if you have to ever go infront of him or sit on jury under him….You know this guy is for REAL!!! KNOCK’em out SAM!!!!!! Heck that’s a campaign slogan for YOU!
I totally agree that this man is only human. We all make mistakes, no matter who you are. Judge Pope, keep your head high, it will get better.
