Child Rape Allegation Draws $50,000 Bond for Local Man

On June 6, Monticello Police officers were called to the emergency room of Drew Memorial Hospital, in response to a reported sexual assault of a child.
Zavious Benton, 18 of Monticello was arrested, based on the allegations described by a nine-year-old female victim along with her mother and sister.
Medical evidence also corroborates the events described in their statements.
District Judge Bruce Anderson set Benton’s bond at $50,000.
He remains in jail, at this time.
