Cattlemen’s Association Meeting
April 26th, 2024 by Club OfficerThe Desha/Drew County Cattlemen’s Association met on Thursday April, 18 at the UAM Agriculture Building. The meeting began outside at 6:00 with a demonstration on ARROWQUIP hydraulic and manual chutes by Rusty Smith of 4M Equipment. Following the demonstration the UAM Farm Manager Greg Montgomery spoke about the upcoming 3rd annual Aggie Comeback. Happening on Saturday, April 27th at the UAM Agriculture Building the event will include a farm tour, meals, as well as speakers Dr. Lance Bauer, BBU Director of Breed improvement and Dr. James Mitchell, Assistant Professor of Livestock Marketing and Management, UofA System Cooperative Extension Service.
Attendees were also able to view the cattle that will be sold at the Aggie Comeback sale. The lots included 2 Beefmaster bulls, 5 Beefmaster influenced pairs, and 10 Beefmaster influenced bred heifers. President Jason Cater blessed the meal of beef barbeque and trimmings that was provided by 4M Equipment. After supper Jeff Monk of 4M Equipment presented a set of videos showcasing Vermeer equipment including mowers, bailers, tedders and more. He also thanked the association for their business and fellowship. The meeting finished with the annual scholarship cake and pie auction. Thank you to everyone who participated in the auction and donated to the scholarship fund. The meeting was adjourned by President Jason Cater.
