A Monticello man, who has been missing since June 17, was safely located Saturday afternoon, in fine condition, shortly after 2 PM, during a traffic stop in Missouri.
Everyone’s help in the case is greatly appreciated.

On June 16, Deputy Allen Edwards conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Hwy 278 West, near Wilmar, AR. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brandon Johnson of Warren.
Deputy Edwards ran a check of Johnson through dispatch and was advised Johnson had a no bond bench warrant issued from Drew County Circuit Court. Johnson was placed under arrest.
Deputy Chris Austin conducted an arrest search of Johnson before placing him in a patrol vehicle. Deputy Austin located a clear plastic bag containing a dollar bill with a crystal like substance inside believed to be meth. Johnson appeared before Judge Crews Puryear for a first appearance and his bond was set at $2500.00 commercial bond.
David Menotti, the canine officer for Monticello Police Dept. won the Marion Township Constable republican runoff election, Tuesday, with a total vote count of 37–13 over Joshua Henley, a Lincoln County Deputy, who has dropped out of the race.
Marion Township covers all of Monticello, and approximately 1 mile around it.

At 2:13 PM on May 24, Monticello Fire & Rescue, MASI, OEM, and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a Dodge Ram, eastbound on Bill Henry Road, leaving the road, jumping over a driveway side road, and crashing over and into a pile of logs, with the driver trapped inside of the vehicle. After the driver was out of the vehicle, he was placed in the ambulance for transportation.

This morning‘s thunderstorm may have moved out of the area, to some extent, but it left trees down all across Drew County, blocking roads. Drew County sheriffs deputies are responding to reports of trees down, like this one is totally Blocking Pumpkin Center, Road, southwest of Monticello. State, county, and city workers are responding to all reports, doing what they can to clear the roadways, or at least marked them with cones, due to flooding
It also left several roads underwater, with levels rising. Hwy 278, near Dead Man’s Curve, McCloy St. and Gaines St. are underwater, as well as many other areas, such as the Creekwood area, shown in this photo.
On June 6th, at approximately 7:30 A.M., agents of the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police, FBI, and the Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a residence in Collins, AR. At the residence, the home owner, Terrell K. Hackney JR, age 52 of Collins, and Amanda S Hoover, age 40 of Drew County, were placed under arrest. (more…)

On Saturday at 2:28 am, a Drew County Sheriffs Deputy was dispatched to a home on a side road located off of Highway 425 S., for what was described in court as a home invasion, where the homeowner was threatened by an intoxicated neighbor, after he had kicked in the front door of the residence. At 1:35, Wednesday morning, Monticello 911 received a call from a Crossett man, reporting that he had just entered Monticello and that there was a bomb rigged to his vehicle. If the vehicle stopped, the bomb would detonate. (more…)
