Last Tuesday at 8:40 AM, MPD received a phone call from a resident of the College Street apartment complex, Monticello Estates, reporting that her ex- had broken into her home, and she had shot him.

Minutes before 6 pm, Thursday, shots were fired from at least one vehicle at this home in the Tanglewood area.

Two vehicles left the neighborhood, and reportedly were firing shots at each other, while traveling north on HWY 425. (more…)

FBI Little Rock is urging Arkansas community groups and law enforcement agencies to sign up for an FBI course on hate crimes. This course, developed by the FBI and the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, clearly defines the criteria for hate crimes and provides insight into FBI hate crimes investigations. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced the arrest of former City of Dermott employee Shamia Jefferson. According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, last Tuesday, two men were arrested for felony drug charges after falling asleep in a vehicle at a local convenience store. Officers responded as a welfare check after receiving a report of the vehicle parked. (more…)
