Due to the remnants of Hurricane Laura coming through Southeast Arkansas, Monticello School District will be dismissing students at 11:35 AM, this morning.

Drew Central Schools will be dismissing car riders at 11:25. Bus riders will be dismissed at 11:35. due to the concern for high winds, electrical outages, and formation of tornadoes.

Other districts in the area either canceled classes earlier, or are dismissing classes, now.

The Monticello School District will begin classes on Monday, August 24. Classes will be held in the classroom Monday-Thursday, and blended/virtual classes will be held on Friday.

The date is set, the DJ is ready, and dinner has been ordered..

Monticello Middle School has been awarded Model PLC School status by Solution Tree. A school must demonstrate a commitment to PLC concepts, implement those concepts for at least three years, present clear evidence of improved student learning, and explain the culture, practices, and structures of school.

Due to updated health concerns, the Monticello School District has received permission from the state to hold their graduation ceremony Thursday night at 7 PM, at Hyatt field.   There will be one graduation event for all graduating seniors.

Updated information as to the requirements to deal with Covid safety will be announced Tuesday/Wednesday.

Monticello School District will follow the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) guidelines and the Arkansas Ready for Learning report issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in planning for re-opening in the fall (Guidelines are subject to change). We hope the following information helps answer many of the questions you may have about re-opening schools.
