City Works to Improve Drainage Near Jordan Park

Wednesday, August 9th, 2023

In an effort to systematically improve storm drainage for residents, Streets and Drainage Crews cleared years worth of debris and overgrowth in a large stretch of area including Jordan Park, Sadie Johnson and Oakland Avenue.

This area receives substantial storm run off from low lying areas to the South and drainage blockages have caused water back-up for residents for decades.

City workers removed trampolines, tires, bar-b-que grills and countless other items as well as logs and railroad cross ties that were blocking effective drainage.

According to a Monticello Mayor Jason Akers, another infrastructure project for the residents of Monticello is underway.

Well #4, which supplies water to residents on Oakland, Conley, Cooper and countless other city streets is located near North Conley Street. The well was listed as a priority infrastructure repair when the city obtained its infrastructure plan in 2020. Originally estimated at a cost of over 1.9 million dollars, the original recommendation was to cap the well, relocate it and dig another well. The well is over 300 feet deep. (more…)

The next story is a press release from MEDC, welcoming them.

The next story after that will be from Delta Data, the company itself, explaining their noise mediation program.

A Minute with the Mayor

Quality WATER is the PRIORITY

IMG_7023

As the Mayor’s Office continues efforts to address and improve Monticello’s infrastructure and water system, a recent inspection of one of the cities towers was ordered and performed.

Inspections of towers examine the tower for a wide range of reasons. Ranging from rust spots and holes that could allow contaminants into water stored in the tower to structural integrity issues.

“We are committed to improving the quality and performance of our water supply chain. Whether it is stored water in a tower or at the wastewater plants, every link in that chain is vital. It must be modernized, maintained and our top priority”

A photo was taken of the inspector as he is seen manually climbing the water tower.
