Shown here is William Alexander Bridewell being sworn in as Attorney at Law by his mother, Chicot County District Judge and Attorney, Laurie A Bridewell, of Lake Village.

Bridewell will practice law with his father, Robert G Bridewell, who is a regular participant in Drew County court cases.

At Monday night’s quorum court meeting, Judge Robert Akin issued a reminder for local businesses, in reference to the sales tax change that took place on July 1, when the library tax expired.

Monday night, at approximately 11:30 pm. Drew County 911 Dispatcher received a call from an unknown male subject stating that he had placed a bomb in a local industry, and was planning to blow the facility up. The suspect further stated “You better come save them,” and hung up the phone.

At last months quorum court meeting, the justices asked about Entergy’s presence in the community, and their storm emergency reaction. Entergy’s Tandee White attended Monday’s meeting, to answer their questions.

Dr. L. R. Tyson was recently recognized as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Dr. Tyson becomes just the ninth board-certified sports clinical specialist among the over 2,000 physical therapists in Arkansas.

SeaArk Boats announces the appointment of Chris Yaney as National Sales Manager.
Chris had been employed by SeaArk from 2006 to 2012 as Parts and Warranty Manager.  He left SeaArk to pursue a job as District Sales Manager at Scott Petroleum.  Chris’ decision to return to SeaArk comes on the heels of several big changes for the company. It was recently announced that SeaArk Boats was purchased by Correct Craft and a new company President in Steve Henderson. (more…)

After 58 years in the boat-building business, the McClendon family has completed a deal to sell their recreational boat company, SeaArk Boats, to Correct Craft, a Florida-based company with global operations headquartered in Orlando.

These new engines were seen crossing HWY 425, Tuesday, after the washed-out sections of track between Collins and Dermott, due to recent flooding, had been repaired.

The engines belong to a sister company of Arkansas Midland; Dallas, Garland, & Northeastern, based out of Texas. Both are subsidiaries of Genesee Wyoming Railroad.

Dish Network has announced a rate increase for 2016 on their non-promotional prices.
