Former treasurer of the Arkansas Court Reporters Association Michael Ashcraft pled guilty Friday, to theft of property, a Class D felony offense, stemming from charges filed by the Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, (more…)
Earlier this week, Primoris Renewable Energy announced that they will be opening a new facility in Crossett‘s former DamFab building, producing solar panel harnesses,
for their corporate solar panel field installation industry.
It was announced that the plant will employ 40 employees within the first year, and 80 when it reaches full operation, in approximately three years.
As with all industries, good news for one Southeast Arkansas city/town, brings jobs to all of southeast Arkansas.
Summary – The vote died on four day week because no one made a motion to propose it. Mrs Streeter also did not recommend it. They asked that PPC (personnel policy committee) revisited the traditional calendar for 2022-2023 school year.
Full Report- The state of Arkansas sent three different options of calendars for the 2022-2023 school year. All were viewed, and it was decided that two options would be presented before the staff of Hamburg School District. One option was the traditional calendar year beginning August 22nd and ending June 5th. Students would have a typical 8:00-3:30 day with staggered dismissal times. The second option was a four day week (Tuesday-Friday) beginning August 23rd and ending May 26th. The school day would begin at 7:45 and end at 3:55 with staggered dismissal times.
Administration informed staff and the school board back in December of these two options. 77.5% of the staff voted in favor of the four day week. A survey was put on the Hamburg School District website and their Facebook page for the community to give their input on the four day week. According to the results from this survey, the community was split 50/50 on this option. Mrs. Streeter was asked her opinion on the four day week; she was not comfortable recommending this option for the upcoming school year. The school board agreed that this was not the best option as they felt rushed into making a decision. They asked that the Personnel Policy Committee revisit the traditional calendar for this upcoming year. The school board will vote on the 2022-2023 traditional calendar at the February meeting.
