“But Officer, I Was Only Going ‘One Way'”
July 4th, 2010 by Joe BurgessAt 6:20, Saturday evening, the driver of this white sedan was stopped by MPD’s Rickey Fleming, who pointed out that they were traveling the wrong way on a one-way street, as they were driving east on on east McCloy Street, toward oncoming traffic, in both lanes.
It reminds us of the old joke, “but officer, I was only going one way.”
The driver was from Florida.

Git em Lee Lee! Hummm wonder what happened to the sign that said “One Way Only”?
Thank You Giggles!!!!!! A lot of out of town people come through Monticello all the time. Some people say they do not see a sign saying one way only or the sign is not in a visible place to see it. I guess something bad have to happen before the county office do something.
The “one way” signs, which were once posted on the traffic lights, are now missing as you approach the square going north on Main Street.
I do hope that appropriate signage will be installed SOON! This is a dangerous situation!
I have had a vehicle driving toward me before on that same road at dark!
