“Business Dumpsters Not For Public Use” – City
February 8th, 2022 by Joe BurgessMonticello Public Ordinance 768 states that private dumpsters cannot be used unless the person dumping trash into the private dumpster has permission to do so from the owner of the dumpster. A fine for doing so may be issued.
What’s happening:
Folks are dumping un-bagged trash in business and private dumpsters. When our trash trucks are picking up and dumping the large trash cans, the loose trash is falling out in the process and littering the roadside. Also, some businesses are unable to use their own dumpsters they pay for because they are filling up with the trash brought by unauthorized users of the dumpster.
What we are going to do:
Before you use a private dumpster, get permission from the business/ entity that owns it. We would all be mad if we went to put a trash bag in our trash cans at home and it was full of someone else’s trash and we couldn’t use our own can. If you get permission, make sure the trash is bagged. No one wants a street littered with trash. Our town, kids and community deserve better.
Let’s keep a cleaner and nicer community for our kids. They deserve it!
