Bomb Threat to Bank Gets $40,000 Bond for Local Man, already Out on Jail Bond
August 17th, 2021 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Department Chief Jason Akers a Monticello man is facing felony charges after being arrested by MPD.
Daron Ray Barnett, 3-12-66 date of birth, was arrested Sunday on an arrest warrant for the charges of Terroristic Threatening 1st degree, a felony, after a report was received from a local bank stating that Barnett had made threats to witnesses/ employees that he intended to “blow up the bank”. A warrant was obtained with a bond of $25,000.
A first judicial appearance was held Monday, where Barnett received the bond raised to $40,000.
Barnett has been arrested by MPD 3 times since May 2021 for felony offenses and was out on bond at the time of this offense. The case file has been turned in to Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Deen for a final filing decision.
