BOLL WEEVILS BOWL BOUND
November 15th, 2018 by iPhoneAfter the Weevils big win against rival SAU in The Battle of the Timberlands and a 6 – 5 record for the season, UAM earned another game in the Corsicana Bowl against Emporia State University. This will be the Weevils first appearance in the postseason in 25 years.
This is the second year for the Corsicana Bowl, which is held in Corsicana, Texas. The game will be held on December 1st at 2pm in Tiger Stadium (Corsicana High School).
The bowl bid was well deserved after UAM came back after halftime from being down 14 points in the first half. With incredible effort in all three phases of the game, offense, defense, and special teams, they pulled off the win over Southern Arkansas University.
In the final seconds of the game Saturday, the Weevil defense held out the SAU offense and forced them to punt down to the UAM 29 yard line. The Weevil offense, led by senior quarterback Cole Sears, then took over and drove the ball 45 yards down field. With 3 seconds left on the game clock UAM takes a timeout. Coach Hud Jackson then called on his field goal unit with junior kicker, Josh Marini, taking the field for the 34 yard field goal that clinched the win for the Weevils.
Tickets for the game are available now, for $15 a ticket. You can purchase these tickets through the UAM athletic department (Call 870-460-1058). All proceeds from tickets purchased from UAM will go back into the UAM football program.
An official invitation to the Corsicana Bowl will be presented this Friday, November 16 at 12:00 p.m. in the Student Success Center.
