Update – Body of Missing Man Recovered
October 16th, 2020 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, the Monticello Police Department has recovered the body of a missing Monticello man identified as Phillip Barnett, age 57, of Monticello.
While the case was being investigated as a missing persons case, Monticello Police Detectives, assisted by the Arkansas State Police, had been interviewing potential witnesses, physically searching areas near the deceased’s home on foot, obtaining search warrants for cellular activity and speaking with acquaintances of the deceased.
Foul play is not suspected at this time. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis.
Out of respect for the family who is in a time of mourning, no other details will be released at this time.
The police department appreciates Mr. Barnett’s family as well as the public’s assistance in the case and those who helped try and locate Mr. Barnett. Our prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult time.
