Billies Hires Robbie Coplin as Head Football Coach
January 5th, 2018 by iPhoneMonticello High School Athletics Director, Blair Brown, announced the hire of Coplin after a special called School Board meeting, recently.
The Billies were able to sway Coach Coplin to leave New Diana, Texas where he currently serves as Athletics Director and Head Football Coach. Coplin has been able to guide the New Diana football team from a 0-10 record to a 10-4 record in just two years on the job. This feat pushed them to the in 3A Division II Quarterfinals of The Texas Football State Finals. It also earned Coach Coplin the 7-3A Coach of the Year in 2017.
Coach Coplin played college football at Southern Arkansas University. Coplin started his coaching career at Crowley Middle School in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 2004 he got his first opportunity as a High School Head Football Coach by starting a football program at Parkers Chapel in Texas near the Arkansas State line. He then left Parkers Chapel and became an Assistant Coach at Stephenville High School Texas under Chad Morris, who is currently head football coach at Arkansas. During the three years of serving as assistant coach in Stephenville, the team had a winning record of 33-5. In 2005, he was on staff with SHS when they became the Division 1 State semifinalists.
He then moved on to Lake Travis for six years. While at Lake Travis, he was a part of four straight 4A State Championships with a combined record of 83-6.
In 2014, he became the Co-offensive Coordinator for Marble Falls. That year Marble Falls lead the 5A in total offense.
According to Longview News-Journal Coach Robbie Coplin cited getting closer to family was the main reason of making the move to Head The Monticello Billies Football Program. Sources say that Coach Coplin hopes to be in the Monticello area sometime in February.
