Billies’ Game Summary
September 13th, 2014 by Matthew SpencerFriday night, the Monticello Sr. Billies played the Magnolia Panthers, losing 20-7. The Billies were out of their normal groove, struggling on both sides of the ball.
The Billies did not play their normal best, passing for only 1 touchdown, passing and rushing for 167 combined yards, took 3 sacks, and turning the ball over 5 times. The Billies got 10 first downs.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers were allowed to make 3 touchdowns, and rush and pass for 323 yards, for 14 first downs. The defense forced 1 turn over (an interception), and made 1 sack.
The game was not completely without redemption, however. The Billies played smart, receiving only 5 penalties, to the Panthers’ 11. The Billies also successfully prevented an extra point kick – an accomplishment that is none too common.
The Billies are set to play at Fordyce on the 19th.
