Big-Rig / Backhoe Fatality Collision, Sunday in McGehee – 2nd Tractor-trailer Death in 3 Days
April 17th, 2014 by iPhoneAt 11:20 Sunday morning, a southbound Case backhoe being driven by Lake Village man, was rear ended by a southbound Volvo 18-wheeler, causing him to be the second big-rig related death inMcGehee since Friday.
29-year-old Brian Morgan, lost his life as he was thrown from the backhoe after the collision.
The Volvo and trailer veered off the roadway, struck some trees, then overturned onto the driver side, as the cab crashed into another tree injuring the Alabama man driving it. He was transported by helicopter to JRMC in Pine Bluff.
Arkansas State Troopers investigated the crash site, while Desha County Deputies directed traffic around the three close lanes of the highway.
Cedric Gold of Drew County was killed Friday near McGehee, in a log truck/train collision.
Condolences for the family and freindsVehicles traveling over that viedock are driveing over 60 miles people pulling onto 65 have to be careful. Personally I don’t know why speed limit is that fast there. Are we in that big of a hurry to get where we are going.
