$500,000 Bond set on Bank Robbery Suspect, Kidnapping Charge Added

Mahli Arrington appeared before Circuit Judge Kenny Johnson, Friday afternoon.
He will be charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery, possess of firearms by felon, and theft of property.
The kidnapping charge is being added because it seems he forced the bank employee to enter the building at gun point.
Arrington was wanted out of Jefferson County at the time of his arrest on drug charges, and has been on probation out of Lincoln County since January.
Bond was set at $500,000, based on defendants history of missing court appearances.

At approximately 1pm, the suspect believed to have robbed Commercial Bank’s East branch was taken into custody.
Mahli Arrington, age 20 of Monticello, is expected to be charged with bank robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.
Arrington was arrested at a residence on Watt Street. Police recovered the gun that was involved, as well as the stolen money.
Items were also discovered at the bank, that contain DNA evidence that will be counted on to prove if it was was Arrington at the scene, this morning.
He is being held at the Drew County

As an employee of a local bank branch was opening for business, Thursday morning, she was approached by a man with a gun.
Commercial Bank’s branch on Highway 278 is currently closed, as Monticello Police, Arkansas State Police, and the Drew County Sheriff’s Department investigate evidence and search for the suspect that fled the scene on foot.
The teller was not injured during the robbery.
The ADC bloodhounds have arrived and are also searching.
