Recently, Tommy Jarrett, regional community president of Simmons Bank, and Brian Hargis, Monticello community president of Simmons Bank, presented a check for $10,000 to Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, Jeff Weaver, vice chancellor for advancement and chief of staff at UAM, and Roxanne Smith, accounting specialist for the UAM Foundation. At its recent funding meeting, the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council (ANCRC) awarded the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) two grants totaling $679,326 for the fiscal year 2023. The grants will fund restoration projects on two UAM-owned properties. (more…)

Five University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) School of Business students won academic awards in a statewide FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda competition. The competition was held during the 2022 Arkansas FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference from March 31 through April 2 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
All five UAM students who competed won awards in their respective events. The students are all majoring in business administration or accounting at UAM. (more…)

On March 18, 2022, Jeff Weaver (UAM vice chancellor for advancement and chief of staff), Rep. The University of Arkansas at Monticello replanted it’s 82 acre harvested area of university-owned forest next to the Drew County Fairgrounds. A crew of 10 planted 36,000 seedlings in less than 2 days. Forest Manager Bobby Webb said the last hand-planted trees on the UAM forest were in 2011. (more…)

On January 26, Drew County announced that it had met all criteria to become a certified ACT Work Ready Community. This achievement caps a multi-year certification process and begins a growth and maintenance phase to retain certification. (more…)

2021 graduates of the Associate Degree Registered Nursing program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello recently achieved a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN examination. According to test results released by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, UAM had the only associate degree nursing program out of 18 two-year programs in Arkansas to achieve a 100% pass rate. “We are certainly pleased with these results and happy for our graduates,” said Dr. Brandy Haley, Dean of the UAM School of Nursing. “It’s an indication of the quality of the students we have in our program and speaks to the quality of our faculty and their efforts to ensure that all of our graduates have a chance to be successful.”
