Ashley County Medical Center Welcomes Board Certified OB/GYN, Dr. Ira Murphy
July 14th, 2017 by iPhoneAshley County Medical Center in Crossett welcomes Dr. Ira Murphy, Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist to their growing healthcare team.
A native of India, Dr. Murphy has been in the United States practicing for over 25 years, since 1991. She received her doctorate degree in medicine at Dr. Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College in Solapur, India. Her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology was also completed at Dr. Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College.
After taking her examinations in the United States, Dr. Murphy attended two years of residency in Internal Medicine at McLaren Regional Medical Center, and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Hurley Medical Center, both in Flint, Michigan. Dr. Murphy is certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist.
Being an Obstetrician and Gynecologist isn’t all about practicing medicine to Dr. Murphy, but a way of service and giving back to others. “I don’t want to be a physician who is seen as just throwing medicine at the patients. I want to sit down and have conversations with them, be a listener that they may need and can trust. I am here to take care of them, not necessarily of just the symptoms they are presenting, but also to talk about what is happening in their lives.”
Dr. Murphy also enjoys talking and counseling her younger generation of patients as well as her older patients experiencing life changes.
As an OB/GYN, Dr. Murphy offers the following: well women exams, annual exams, treating menopause and perimenopausal transition, major and minor procedures-inpatient/outpatient surgeries, routine prenatal care, delivery of babies, antepartum care, family planning and contraception, and 3D and 4D ultrasounds.
Ashley County Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Phillip Gilmore, says “Dr. Murphy is a tremendous asset not only to Ashley County Medical Center, but to the Southeast Arkansas region. With her skills and expertise in OB/GYN and Internal Medicine, we are blessed to have Dr. Murphy a part of the ACMC family. We are grateful that Dr. Murphy has decided to make Crossett her new home.
She is committed to being here, being involved, and caring for patients in need. We are very thankful to now have three board certified OB/GYN’s practicing in our clinic and hospital.”
Put your trust in Dr. Murphy for all of your women’s health and labor and delivery needs.
