Ashley County Medical Center, Family Clinic of Ashley County Sign Merger Agreement
July 12th, 2017 by iPhoneAshley County Medical Center and the Family Clinic of Ashley County have announced that the two entities have agreed to merge.
The organizational structure of the clinic will now transition to hospital governance so that all physicians and staff will become employees of Ashley County Medical Center. Officials say this is a mutual merging that will not change patient care. “Patients will not see any change at Family Clinic,” says Ben Walsh, M.D. Family Clinic of Ashley County. “The same providers, nurses, and employees will continue doing the same work.”
The Family Clinic of Ashley County recently began negotiations with Ashley County Medical Center and have finalized the agreement. “The merger will bring more stability to the medical community, and by combining efforts enable the team to do more to improve healthcare in the county,” says Dr. Ben Walsh. “The clinic and the hospital each have resources that will benefit the other in the merger.
“We are pleased to have the Family Clinic of Ashley County join our provider base at Ashley County Medical Center,” says Phillip Gilmore, Chief Executive Officer of Ashley County Medical Center. “We welcome a closer relationship with the providers and employees of the Family Clinic. This enables us to bring greater efficiencies for the residents of southeast Arkansas.”
“As a medical center, we believe that we are here to serve the patients of Ashley County with quality care,” explains Gilmore. “We have been working hard to expand our clinics and increase services to our patients. This is a win-win for all parties. The Family Clinic of Ashley County has been our close neighbors and friends for years. We are pleased to have them working with us as we strive to be southeast Arkansas’s first choice for health care.”
The merger went into effect July 1.
