Dr. Barnes will provide an overview of the methods used to analyze the commonplace glass artifacts and the information they can provide. From tonics increasingly marketed to women to bitters and syrups produced to treat all types of ailments, patent medicine bottles provide a lens into the changing ideas about health and healing and access to medical care in southeast Arkansas.
