A&P Announces Tourism Website
December 21st, 2020 by Joe BurgessThe Monticello Advertising and Promotion Commission is proud to announce the launch of Monticello’s very own Tourism Website, www.exploremonticello.com .
Exploremonticello.com has been developed as a one-stop sitefor anyone looking for Things to Do, Restaurants, Hotels and Special Events in the Monticello/Drew County area. The website is being promoted by Arkansas Parks and Tourism publications and the Monticello Visitors and Newcomers Guide through placement in the 15 Arkansas Visitors Centers located across the state as well as in local hotels and businesses.
“We have much to be proud of in Monticello and this website will reveal our hidden treasures to others in our state and beyond.”, said Andy Patel, chair of the Monticello Advertising and Promotion Commission.
The website will be updated regularly to add new businesses and tourism attractions as they are established. If your tourism based business is not currently visible on the website, please use the “contact us” link on the website to share your business information for inclusion.
The Monticello Advertising and Promotion Commission was established in conjunction with the Advertising and Promotion Tax by Ordinance of the Monticello City Council in May of 2011. The 3% gross receipt tax is levied ONLY upon renting and leasing of hotel and motel accommodations within the corporation limits of Monticello for the purpose of providing funds to advertise and promote tourism for the City and for the development of a convention center. Only visitors which stay in a Monticello hotel or motel pay the A&P tax. This revenue has enabled the Advertising and Promotion Commission to develop this website, pay for tourism marketing for Monticello and pay for rebranding of the City of Monticello.
The Commission continues its work on construction of Welcome signs for the city. This project will be completed soon.
