“Unknown Santa” Arrested Tuesday Night
December 24th, 2008 by Joe BurgessTuesday evening, around 6-7 p.m. at Wal-Mart, security officers asked a young adult male to leave the premises.
During the incident, which took place mainly outside of the building, Larry Pagan, recognized to some as the recent “Unknown Santa” became involved, and after a lengthy conversation, in which he was asked to stay out of, was arrested by Monticello Police, and charged with disorderly conduct, and interfering with governmental operations.
The security members at the time were an off-duty police officer and a sheriff’s deputy.
No charges were filed against the younger man.
The “Unknown Santa” spoke to MonticelloLive.com this morning, and said, “I want to apologize to the people who saw what happened last night.  I didn’t intend to interfere with the police. I was only trying to help a young man, who is a friend of my son.”
Pagan bonded out upon arrival at CDF.Â
Tuesday night’s events will not interfere with Santa’s Christmas Eve travels, since this was only one of “Santa’s Helpers.”
The “Unknown Santa” told MonticelloLive.com that he will be in Monticello today, “since Christmas must go on.”

UPDATE—“Unknown Santa” Tells Explains Wednesday’s Giving
MonticelloLive has been in contact with the “Un-known Santa”. He wishes to remain anonymous, and I’ll certainly repect his wishes.
The Un-known Santa wants to share the reason for his generous gifts., Here’s what he said.
People in this world need to know that there are still good in people.
The things I did was because the Lord has blessed me, and I wanted to give it forward and let people know that the true meaning of Christmas. It’s not what you recieve, but the love in giving.
God gave us the best gift of all, it is Jesus (not “was Jesus”, but “is and will always be Jesus”).
May everyone have a wonderful Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Un-knonwn Santa.
——————————-Â
An anonymous Santa Claus was at the Monticello Wal-Mart around 6 o’clock Wednesday evening, and showed a great example of the spirit of giving.
The un-named gentleman was waiting at the end of a check out register, and when an estimated 10-15 random customers receipts were rang up, paid for their items.
During a MonticelloLive interview, one fortunate lady said, “as i was loading my bags into my buggy, he came up to me and asked, ‘do you believe in Santa Clause’, thinking children may be around I replied, ‘I believe in the spirit of giving’.
She continued, “he reached to the cashier and paid my bill.” As he was leaving she asked him, “are you from Monticello?”, and he just smiled and waived as he left the store.
“Santa” did not draw any attention to himself, and told a bystander, “It’s Christmas.”Â
He proudly displayed an American Flag on his jacket, as he repeated the event for a couple of customers at register 3, before moving to another register.  It’s estimated that total purchases totaled approximately $1,000. Two purchases were over $100, and another was over $200.

What a wonderful and Giving Spirit. May the lord Bless and meet all his needs in return..
What a wonderful example of Christian love! The Lord will surely bless the giver as well as the receivers of this man’s gift. All of us would be much happier if we were more generous to others. The spirit of giving is a blessing! Jesus showed us that example of giving, love and selflessness by giving His life for each and every one of us.
“Yes, Virginia there is still a Santa Claus!” What an unselfish thing to do. God Bless this man.
You know during this holiday season, for some reason as an adult, I have been thinking how great would it be to have the innocense of a child and BELIEVE in Santa Claus.
While I was not at Wal-Mart, after reading this story, I’ve found that innocense. YES Monticello, there is a Santa Claus!
People in this world need to know that there is still good in people. The things I did was because the Lord has blessed me, so I wanted to give it forward and let people know that the true meaning of Christmas. It’s not what you recieve, but the love in giving. God gave us the best gift of all, it is Jesus( not was jesus but is and will always be). May everyone have a wonderful Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
CHRIST is still in Christmas!!
What an Angel. My son had told me the story because it happened with an aquaintance of his that was really having a hard time this Christmas. God really is using this man to help bring back the real meaning of the Season–Christ.
I feel JESUS sent this angel man to Monticello to show us there are still good people.I think of all the excuses, I could come up with to not give away $1,000.00 if I had it. I feel shamed. And Jesus told him who to give it to. Because if it had been me. I would of had a heart attact.Angel Man you will be blessed.HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS THANK YOU for sending a blessing we can all read about.Thank you MONTICELLOLIVE. GOD BLESS ALL.IT’ OK TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
There was also an unknown “Santa” at Sav-A-Lot on Saturday, Decemeber 20. He paid for my $115 grocery bill along with two or three other customers! I was totally flabbergasted and very thankful.
I like to say that I’m soory to everyone. Like I told Monticellolive I did not mean for what took place to happen. I just saw something taking place that I did not belive in. The Police I know have been really busy this time of year and things should not have ended the way it did. So I hope that everyone can forgive me . I still want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. Remember what Christmas is all about.
He is A Good Man & He has blessed alot of ppl by giving wut he had… but *God* Used him through the time of giving and showed wut the true meaning of *christmas* is about! He is a strong man & He cares for wut is right & knows wut is best! The sercert santa is awesome & Great… I couldnt ask for anything better than that.. I love u sercert santa!!!!!! :)
I guess even Santa needs to know not to interfear with the Police they are always in the right if you think something is wrong —go to court then say your comments. It was good for him to the good deads he did but he over stepped his grounds
I’ve heard alot of cops say they would give their own Mother a ticket. But Santa,I have to laugh. I hope the judge just gives him a warning.Angel Man santa it’s ok we forgive you. You have a good heart.
I want to say that God has a special place for people like santa that the only thing he wants is to help people out. There should be more like him God Bless you Santa
He did good for me and my mom and we were very surprised and blessed.
YOU NEED TO GO TO THE HOUSE
To Ben Dover. you need to learn how to appreciate people who want to help others.
You need to stay at your House and leave others alone.
I think what you did was an awsome deed.
May God bless you and your family for the great deed you did for many during the holiday season. As long as those deeds were from the heart and done for the right reasons you will be rewarded.
God bless you!
