Alleged “Abortion Nurse” Arrested
July 1st, 2015 by Joe BurgessThe local nurse, who was being sought in connection with the alleged April illegal abortion of a local woman was arrested Friday, on a warrant out of the Drew County Circuit Court.
Karen Collins, age 32 of Monticello, is facing charges of unlicensed abortion and illegal abortion, in the case.
The other woman, Anne Bynum’s case and arrest brought out many details of the case, which can be read at thsi link.
But court records now indicate that the 2 women, along with another friend, rented a Little Rock motel room, on March 28, to carry out their plan, but Bynum didn’t go into labor, there. Their plan was to take the baby to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for medical care.
Collins told Lt. Tim Nichols that they met a man at the Big Red Auto Plaza, in White Hall, where she got a bag of pills. A part of Bynum’s statement to Sheriff’s Dept. investigators was that, “Karen was surprised. It usually only takes 8 pills; but I took 44.”
Collins bonded out of jail, later that day, on a $5,000 bond.
