The Monticello Junior High cheerleaders recently attended the Universal Cheerleading Association’s summer cheer camp at ASU Jonesboro where they received multiple awards. They received a spirit stick each day of camp and also received all superior awards for every evaluation. They competed in the extreme routine competition where they were awarded first overall in the large group Junior High division. The girls also competed in the “Game Day” competition. They received 3rd place in the cheer division, 3rd place in the fight song division, 1st place in the side line division, and 2nd place in the overall “Game Day” competition. They were also recognized as a superior large group junior high squad. Katherine Dickson and Brooke Shrum advanced to the finals in the junior high jump off competition. Dickson and Shrum were also named All-American cheerleaders.
