Alex Becker Named Vice Chancellor For Finance And Administration
May 18th, 2018 by UAM NewsAlex Becker of Monticello is the newest member of the senior leadership team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Becker was recently appointed vice chancellor for finance and administration where he will serve as the institution’s chief financial officer.
Becker has held a number of positions since coming to UAM in 2010, most recently as associate vice chancellor for business affairs.
“After a national search, I am pleased that we were able to find the ideal candidate,” said UAM Chancellor Karla Hughes. “Alex has a thorough understanding of the unique fiscal challenges and opportunities faced not only by UAM, but by higher education in Arkansas. He brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to the position and has both the background and managerial skills necessary to fill a challenging position.”
Becker is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he received a bachelor of liberal arts in 2009. He earned a master’s of business administration degree from Harding University in 2011, a bachelor’s of accounting degree from UALR in 2015 and became a certified public accountant in 2017.
He joined the UAM finance and administration staff in 2010 as an accountant, became a project coordinator in 2011 and assumed the duties of reporting and payroll manager in 2015. He was named business manager in July 2017 and three months later was promoted to associate vice chancellor for business affairs.
“I am grateful for the confidence shown in me by Chancellor Hughes,” said Becker. “This is an exciting time to be at UAM and I look forward to being part of her executive council as we move forward.”
