AG&F Removes Signs from Lake Monticello; Still Patrols & Services Lake
May 23rd, 2018 by iPhoneÂ
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recently removed the project signs (big green signs) from both access areas at Lake Monticello.
This was to done to comply with a new Fisheries Division policy concerning signage. Areas that are not owned or actively maintained by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are to no longer have a project sign.
The City of Monticello owns and maintains the both of the access areas. In the past, the Commission placed signs at locations where Commission funds were used to construct projects even if they were not owned or maintained by the Commission. The Commission was then blamed if the area was not properly maintained even if it was not the Commission’s responsibility.
For this reason, the Fisheries Division enacted the new signage policy. The Commission has not abandoned Lake Monticello and all fishing regulations are still in effect, including the slot limit.
Questions concerning this policy can be directed to the Fisheries Division of the Southeast Regional office of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at 877-367-3559.
