Advantages Recognizes Staff for National Direct Support Professional’s Week.
September 12th, 2013 by SubmittedThe week of September 8-14, 2013 is National Direct Support Professional’s week. Governor Beebe signed a proclamation declaring Arkansas’s recognition of Direct Support Professional’s in Arkansas.
A Direct Support Professional is the primary support of individuals who have special needs. These professionals provide a broad range of services, including preparation of meals, help with medications, personal hygiene, mobility, transportation, money management and instruction in daily life skills.
The DSP recognizes the importance of social interaction and community involvement and assists individuals with special needs stay connected to their family, friends and community. Without them, individuals with special needs could face costly institutionalization and a restricted life-style.
Advantages hires DSP’s as paraprofessionals at the Discovery Children’s Center, Life Skills Instructors at the Adult Center and Day Habilitation/Companion staff in the Waiver Division that includes 14 Southeast AR counties.
The Executive Director and Board of Directors of Advantages of Southeast AR, Inc. recognizes the hard work of these individuals and their dedication to providing quality services to those they serve.
