Accidental Shooting on Walmart Parking Lot
December 20th, 2021 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, MPD is investigating an incident that occurred today in the Wal Mart parking lot on Highway 425, Friday.
Officers and Detectives responded to 911 calls of a person shot in the parking lot. Further investigation on the scene found that an individual parked in the parking lot accidentally discharged a firearm inside his vehicle, with the bullet striking him in what appears to be a non-life threatening location.
The scene of the incident was processed with a loaded firearm, a small amount of marijuana and digital scales being located in the vehicle.
The victim was transported by MASI ambulance service and at last information was in stable condition. Again, the injury does not appear to be life threatening.
The name of the victim will not be released until the investigation is complete.
